The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman has called on parents to prioritize educational pursuits and skills of their children or those under their care into various learning centers.
The Speaker made the plea as world marks International Children’s Day, saying it is a day set aside to celebrate God’s blessings (children) to humans, discuss their challenges and sort out modalities to improve their lives.
Rt. Hon. Abubakar emphasized the need for Governments, non-profit organizations and human right activists to be actively involved when cases of children abuse or maltreatments are identified.
He enjoined parents and relatives to never abandon victims of rapes or inhumane treatments as they direly need supports.
The Speaker maintained that the Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed children-centred Bills and assented by the people’s Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.
He then assured on the House commitment to the welfarism, protection of rights and giving necessary supports to children in the State.
He pledged that BAHA is ready to collaborate and make laws that would standardise the living conditions of children in the State and country as a whole.
