From News Desk

A resident of Dewu in Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Adamu Wanzam Dewu, has appealed to the Bauchi State Government and the Kirfi Local Government Council to urgently restore electricity to Dewu and other affected communities after nearly three years without power supply.

Adamu Wanzam Dewu made the appeal in an interview with newsmen in Dewu, revealing that the affected communities had been without electricity for two years and nine months following the collapse of electricity poles during heavy rainfall.

He explained that the prolonged power outage had disrupted economic activities, particularly businesses operated by women and young people, while also affecting healthcare services and the general well-being of residents.

According to him, the affected communities include Dewu, Ribangarmu, Kalan Boli, Boli, Kafin Turaki, Kafin Iya, Hardo Bawa, Beni District, Shango and Beni B, also known as Guyaba.

Adamu Wanzam Dewu expressed concern over the prolonged blackout, noting that residents of Dewu could see electricity in neighbouring Wanka town, which is less than two kilometres away, while their own community continued to suffer from the absence of power supply.

He appealed to the state government and the local government council to demonstrate concern for the plight of residents by taking urgent and practical steps to restore electricity to the affected communities.

He expressed hope that the authorities would address the problem without further delay to ease the hardship faced by residents and support economic and social activities in the area.

Adamu Wanzam however, commended the Kirfi Local Government Council for its efforts to execute development projects within a short period since assuming office, urging it to make electricity restoration a priority to improve the living conditions of residents across the affected communities.
