Alkaleri District Head warns beans sellers against fraudulent practices

By Muhammad Alhaji Abdullahi:

The District Head of Alkaleri, Bala Muhammad Gidado, has condemned the practice of mixing beans with water by some sellers in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State to increase the quantity of their produce and maximise profits.

Bala Gidado made the condemnation following the arrest of some traders who were reportedly caught mixing beans with water at a hideout.

He described the practice as selfish, dishonest and fraudulent, saying it violates the principles of peaceful coexistence, the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him.

The District Head warned beans sellers to desist from all forms of cheating in their businesses, stressing that they would be held accountable for their actions before Almighty Allah, either in this world or in the Hereafter.

He further warned that anyone found engaging in the practice again would face appropriate sanctions.

As part of the measures to deter others, those caught have been suspended from buying or selling beans in nearby markets.

Speaking on the matter, the Secretary of the Union of Bag Sellers, Alhaji Dandiyo, said the union was making efforts to sensitise its members against unethical business practices, particularly in the sale of beans, millet and maize.

He stated that the union would not tolerate any action capable of tarnishing the image of traders in the market, regardless of the individuals involved or where they came from.

Alhaji Dandiyo urged traders to fear Allah and uphold honesty in their business dealings, noting that Allah sees all human actions.

He called on security agencies to support the union by monitoring markets and identifying individuals involved in such practices to ensure that appropriate action is taken promptly.
