1,000 Alkaleri Women benefit from APM Empowerment Programme.

By Amina Umar:

One thousand women have benefited from an empowerment programme organised by Alkaleri Women for APM Support and Mobilisation in Bauchi State as part of efforts to strengthen women’s participation in the political movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The programme, held at Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, also served as a platform to mobilise support for the All Progressives Movement (APM) and sensitise women on the need to participate actively in the electoral process.

Declaring the programme open, the Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, commended the organisers for their commitment and continued support for the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

She said the governor had significantly transformed the state’s development landscape in over seven years, urging the people of Alkaleri, his home local government area, to take the lead in mobilising support for APM candidates in the 2027 elections.

The First Lady stressed the need to sustain the administration’s achievements through continuity, while advising women to make informed electoral choices by supporting candidates with credible development plans rather than those who offer temporary incentives during election periods.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado, thanked the women for organising the initiative and called on political stakeholders to support Governor Bala Mohammed’s senatorial ambition, as well as Dr. Yakubu Adamu and other APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Comrade Mukhtar Gidado maintained that the governor had executed thousands of development projects within seven years, with significant impacts on the lives of residents, and urged the people of Bauchi State to support the APM to sustain the gains of democratic governance.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Alhaji Bala Aliyu, said the governor’s projects were visible across the state, expressing the need for continued support for his senatorial ambition and the APM gubernatorial candidate.

He also commended the women’s group for its initiative and commitment to mobilising support for the governor and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the Head of the Century Initiative, Mrs. Lydia Shehu, said the programme was organised to demonstrate love and solidarity with the First Lady in recognition of her contributions to the development of the area.

In her welcome address, the group’s representative, Hajiya Maryam Aliyu Umar, said the initiative was intended to reciprocate the First Lady’s goodwill by mobilising and sensitising women on the APM movement.

She expressed optimism that the governor and other party candidates would receive the support needed to achieve electoral success in 2027, while thanking individuals and stakeholders who contributed to the programme’s success.
