Bununu Youths Urged to Pursue Islamic, Western Education

Youths have been urged to seek both Islamic and Western education in order to build a decent, peaceful and prosperous society.
The call was made by the Chief Imam of Tafawa Balewa, Imam Faizu Sheikh Ado, during this year’s Maulud procession held in Bununu, the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Imam Faizu Ado Musa said seeking knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim, stressing that the Almighty Allah cannot be worshipped properly through ignorance.
He challenged praise singers who celebrate the life and virtues of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to strive to acquire adequate knowledge about the Prophet before composing or performing praise songs in his honour.
The Chief Imam attributed some of the atrocities being perpetrated by youths to ignorance, stressing the need for young people to embrace different forms of education in order to contribute positively to society.
Speaking extensively on the significance of the Maulud procession, Imam Faizu Ado Musa explained that the occasion was organised to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He noted that the tradition of celebrating the Prophet’s life and teachings has historical roots in the Muslim community and serves as an avenue to strengthen Islamic unity and promote knowledge about the Prophet.
The Imam thanked the authorities, traditional rulers and security agencies for their contributions towards ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Maulud procession in Bununu.
In his remarks, the District Head of Bula, Alhaji Abubakar Musa Saleh, thanked Imam Faizu Ado Musa Tafawa Balewa for leading the Maulud delegation to his palace.
He expressed delight over the peaceful conduct of the procession and commended the Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, the Chairman of Tafawa Balewa Local Government, Alhaji Sama’ila Wakili, and traditional leaders for their support towards the successful conduct of the Maulud festivities in Bununu.
Alhaji Abubakar Musa Saleh noted that the successful conduct of the event had demonstrated the commitment of the people to peace, despite apprehensions and negative predictions by some individuals.
He urged religious leaders to continue praying fervently for the success of the country’s leaders, particularly as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of prayers for peaceful and credible elections.
Highlights of the Maulud procession include,, a colourful march through the streets of Bununu by participants dressed in white attire, waving banners and chanting praise songs in honour of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
