The Emir of Gamawa, Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Dahuwa, has turbaned 38 new Village Heads under the emirate’s 10 District Heads, charging them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and a strong sense of service to their communities.
The colourful turbaning ceremony, held at the Emir’s Palace in Gamawa over the weekend, attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, family members and well-wishers from within and outside Bauchi State.
Addressing the newly appointed Village Heads, the Emir urged them to remain loyal to their respective District Heads, local government authorities and the Bauchi State Government.
He emphasized that their appointments come with enormous responsibilities, including promoting peace, justice and development at the grassroots.
Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Dahuwa also called on the new traditional leaders to support the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in appreciation of the government’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions across the state.
The Emir further directed the Village Heads to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or emerging security threats to the appropriate traditional and government authorities.
According to him, effective collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies is essential to maintaining peace and stability in their communities.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman, congratulated the newly turbaned Village Heads and urged them to provide inclusive leadership by carrying everyone along, irrespective of political, ethnic or social differences.
The commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions, noting that official vehicles and residences have already been provided for emirs and district heads across Bauchi State to improve their effectiveness.
He also disclosed that the government plans to construct houses and provide motorcycles for the newly turbaned Village Heads to enhance their mobility and enable them to perform their duties more efficiently.
Hon. Usman added that the state government has reviewed the salary structure of traditional title holders to improve their welfare and further enhance their capacity to serve their communities effectively.
