The District Head of Girawa/Faggo, Alhaji Nura Ahmed, has conferred traditional titles on two prominent indigenes in recognition of their contributions, competence and commitment to the development of the Girawa/Faggo traditional institution.
The lawmaker representing Shira Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Auwal Hassan, was appointed “Marafan Faggo,” while Aminu Adamu Faggo, Director of ICT at Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, Bauchi, was conferred with the title “Dan Galadiman Faggo.”
Speaking shortly after the conferment of the traditional titles, the District Head urged the newly turbaned title holders to take their responsibilities seriously and justify the confidence reposed in them.
Alhaji Nura Ahmed said the appointments followed a careful assessment of their track records, dedication and demonstrated capacity to contribute to the advancement of the Girawa/Faggo traditional institution.
He called on them to work tirelessly towards the development of the area and improve the welfare of the people, stressing the importance of service, commitment and responsibility in the discharge of their traditional roles.
The District Head also commended the Bauchi State Government for its support to the area, while appealing to the government to sustain and expand its intervention through the provision of basic infrastructure and other development projects that would improve the living conditions of the people.
In his acceptance speech, the newly turbaned “Dan Galadiman Faggo”, Aminu Adamu Faggo, expressed appreciation to the District Head for the honour and confidence bestowed on him and pledged to contribute his quota towards the development and progress of the Girawa/Faggo traditional institution.
Also speaking, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Bauchi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry who is also the “Galadiman Faggo”, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi Faggo, commended the District Head for conferring the title on his son.
He advised the newly appointed title holders to use their traditional positions to promote honesty, integrity and accountability, urging them to uphold the trust associated with the titles.
Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi Faggo further commended the leadership of the District Head for what he described as the administration of the traditional institution based on justice, fairness and trust.
The appointments are expected to further strengthen community leadership and encourage greater participation in the development of Girawa/Faggo and its people.
