Health Leaders rally Traditional and Religion rulers to boost Polio eradication in Bogoro

The Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development, in partnership with the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, has convened a sensitization and feedback meeting with traditional and religious leaders in Bogoro Local Government Area to strengthen community support for polio eradication and routine immunization.
The engagement focused on reorganizing vaccination strategies, improving vaccine uptake, and expanding access to essential health services across local communities.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Bala Usman Nalado, the State Focal Person for the Sultan Foundation, emphasized that traditional rulers, religious leaders, and health workers remain critical partners in reaching every child and halting poliovirus transmission.
Alhaji Aminu Dan Mallam, Programme Adviser for the Foundation and District Head of Aujara, highlighted the importance of proper childcare and nutrition alongside immunization.
He also outlined key operational challenges identified during field mapping, including security constraints, network issues with digital devices, data collection gaps, and logistical hurdles in hard-to-reach areas.
District Head of Lusa, Mr. Dauda J. Zabas, commended local leaders for their commitment to mobilizing residents, while Mr. Godwill Hakuri Gidado, Director of Primary Health Care for Bogoro LGA, urged parents and caregivers to ensure their children receive all scheduled vaccines.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session where participants raised questions and shared recommendations to improve healthcare delivery and maintain a polio-free status in the local government area.
