Bauchi State Government Orders Immediate ban on Farming Near Maladumba Lake Buffer Zone, and revisit Allocation of lands with a view to addressing Herder-Farmers Disputes in Misau Local Goverment Area.
Similarly, Government has announced fresh demarcation of all cattle routes, eviction of encroachers, and the immediate ban on farming activities close to Maladumba Lake.
Speaking during a visit by the Committee on Monitoring of Farmlands in De-reserved Forest, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Gwaram, outlined government’s plan to restore order, stating stated that patience and willingness to ensure peacefull coexistence.
Alhaji Abdullahi Gwaram reaffirmed Goverment’s legal authority over all lands belonging to the state, and expressed displeasure over allocations exceeding approved targets and specifically ordered that no farming activities would be permitted close to the Maladumba River Bank.
In his remarks, the Chairman Misau Local Government, Council, Alhaji Salisu Hussaini Hardawa, pledged the council’s support towards implementing government’s directives.
Alhaji Hardawa revealed that he personally led a delegation on Motorcycles to inspect complained areas and ordered all encroachers to vacate, acknowledging that thousands of farmers were affected, but all the signs marking cattle routes were removed.
At the end of the discussion, Commissioner Lands and Survey Alhaji. Abdullahi Muhammad Gwaram confirmed that a comprehensive report will be forwarded to the governor, after which a binding resolution would be enforced.
