The Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced a change in the departure time for the first batch of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise, now scheduled to leave at 4:50 p.m. on May 7, instead of the earlier 8:29 p.m.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this during a press briefing held in his office in Bauchi, attributing the adjustment to operational changes.
He stated that prior to the departure, Governor Bala Mohammed is expected to address the pilgrims, after which the screening process will commence.
Dr Idris urged all intending pilgrims to safeguard their Nusuk Cards while in Saudi Arabia, stressing that loss of the card would result in deportation.
He also advised pilgrims to secure their Basic Travel Allowance BTA to prevent loss.
On Hajj rites, he explained that pilgrims are expected to pay for Hadaya (sacrificial offering) through Ja’iz Bank at an estimated cost of one hundred and eighty thousand naira.
The Executive Secretary further appealed to relatives of pilgrims to avoid parking vehicles at the Hajj camp and airport, noting that new security measures restrict vehicular access to designated areas.
He added that the inaugural flight will convey a total of 485 pilgrims, comprising 323 from Bauchi State and 162 from Plateau State.
