Bauchi State Government has approved the purchase and distribution of food items worth N173 million to Muslims across the state as part of activities marking the 2026 Maulud celebration.
The Chairman of the State Committee on Muslim Gift Distribution, Ibrahim Ahmed Baba Karami, disclosed this during the official inauguration of the distribution exercise in Bauchi.
He said a substantial portion of the items would be distributed to Zawiyyas, Islamiyyah schools, Ulama and Shu’ara, while other beneficiaries include state and local government officials, recognised Islamic organisations and associations, as well as political parties across the state.
Ibrahim Baba Karami commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his commitment to promoting religious harmony and ensuring fairness among followers of different faiths in the state.
He assured the Muslim community that the distribution would be conducted transparently, fairly and judiciously to ensure that the items reached the intended beneficiaries.
Speaking at the inauguration on behalf of the state government, the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation, Engineer Muhammad Binni Abdulkadir, said the gesture was part of Governor Bala Mohammed’s continued efforts to support religious activities and cater to the needs of the Muslim community.
Some beneficiaries, including Alaramma Sunusi Adamu and Nasiru Musa Sudanee, expressed appreciation to the state government for what they described as its continued attention to religious affairs.
They prayed for the Governor and his administration, asking Allah to reward the government’s efforts and grant Bauchi State continued peace, progress and prosperity.
The items approved for distribution include 700 bags of rice, 40 bulls and cash.
