Misau Local Government emerges champion at the just concluded Basic education sports competition in Bauchi state

 

Misau Local Government has emerged champion after beating team Bauchi at the just concluded Basic education sports competition in the state .

Organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission in collaboration with Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board, the event also hosted Similar, team Bogoro Local Government which emerged winner at the female category.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the tournament held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, the UBEC North East, Zonal Director Abdullahi Shehu Jarma said the competition is part of federal Government broader effort to encourage and improve grassroots sports development through basic schools in the country

The Director appealed to management of basic schools in the state to continue encouraging their students in extra curriculum activities especially sports for effective learning process

Abdullahi Shehu Jarma said the winners at the various games will represent Bauchi State during the national competition and called on relevant stakeholders particularly parents to support their children to achieve the set objectives

Earlier, the Director Upper Basic of SUBEB Aliyu Umar Wunti attributed the success of the games to the support of Governor Bala Mohammed and assured that team Bauchi will perform well with the caliber of players on ground during the national competition

He called on authorities concern to be visiting such competitions to hunt and select grassroots players to represent the nation at national levels

Aliyu Umar Wunti then appreciated UBEC and SUBEB and the local Organising Commitee for the success of the games in Bauchi state

The results of other athletes indicated that, team Toro came first, Gamawa second in one hundred meters and Bogoro first and Fatima Isa Dass second in female categories

While in two hundred meters race, Zaki first and Toro came second, Toro first, Bogoro second in female categories In Hand ball tournament, Bauchi, first, Alkalere second, Female Toro first, Giade second, While in four by hundred meters Shira local government emerged first, Toro second, while Dass also bagged first, Toro second in female categories

 

However the winners of Volleyball is going to be announce by the organisers of the tournament
