A veteran journalist and public affairs analyst in Bauchi , has , raised concern over attitude of opposition social media influencers politicizing infrastructural issue in public schools in Bauchi state.
Dr Abdul Burra who made the statement while speaking to newsmen in Bauchi highlighted Infrastructural challenges faced by Schools to include issues of inadequate furniture and poor maintenance culture, pointing out that there is tendency to vandalize or neglect government property in public schools.
He reiterated that the responsibility of Maintainance should not be of Government alone , but that of the community, parents, teachers, and students who also play a part
While applauding Governor Bala Mohammed’s efforts which he noted has invested in education, through building, rehabilitation of schools, the Public Affairs analyst stressed the Need for collective responsibility in Maintaining schools by stakeholders in the sector.
He called for a Change of attitude and the Need for a shift in how people treat school property, by imbibing Maintenance culture, whereby Schools promote care for facilities in their custody, and Community vigilance by Community leaders,and traditional rulers to help protect schools facilities.
Dr Burra emphasized the need for balancing of accountability with collective responsibility towards improving the education sector in Bauchi State.
