Bauchi State Government has reiterated its commitment to support Youth in the State,to enable them participate in the agricultural sector.
The State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management,Hajiya Hajara Yakubu wanka ,gave the assurance at the opening ceremony of a workshop for the Youth organized by the State Sustainable Development Goals and AUDA -NEPAD, held at Joly Guest inn, Tsakanin Bayara.
Hajiya Hajara Yakubu wanka, represented by the Director General SDGs,who is also a Focal person AUDA -NEPAD, Mrs Lydia J Shehu expressed concern that women are left behind in terms of Agricultural Practices, hence the need to introduce the laudable programme,aimed at transforming small holder farmers across the state.
Hajiya Hajara Yakubu wanka, commended the effort of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad and the National coordinator of AUDA -NEPAD for keying into the programme,to improve productivity among small holder farmers in the State.
She reiterated the importance of farming in the agricultural sector and the need to enhance the involvement of small holder farmers.
The commissioner also Urged the Youth participants at the programme and being the majority in the society,to trained in modern Farming system, which would bring more progress in the agricultural sector.
In his Goodwill message, the representative of the commissioner of Youth and Sport, Overseeing Director Youth Development in the Ministry Alhaji Admu Hardo , advised the youth to use the knowledge acquired at the workshop to train others in their respective local Government areas.
On her part, the Facilitator of the Workshop, Dr Rashida Abdulmumini Bala from ATBU Bauchi,said the Youths are the backbone of the society in the development of the nations, which is the main reason to be part of the programme to drive the ecosystem of farming.
In their separate vote of thanks on behalf of the participants,Miss loiuce and Abubakar Shehu, thanked the organisers of the Workshop,for the Opportunity given to them and promised to be good ambassadors of the program at their local Government areas.
