Bauchi State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment on staff capacity building for improving service delivery and legislative performance in the state.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of two days in house training
workshop for staff of the house held at the assembly’s Conference Hall, the House Deputy Clerk, Alhaji Musa Yarima, described the initiative as a major milestone in the Assembly’s quest for professionalism, discipline, and institutional excellence.
Alhaji Musa Yarima noted that, the training, which is the first of its kind in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, underscores management’s commitment to building a competent and effective workforce capable of supporting legislative duties.
The Deputy Clerk commended the Department of Administration and Supplies as well as the Training Coordination Team for their foresight and dedication in organizing the workshop.
He also expressed appreciation to the resource persons for sharing their time and expertise to strengthen the legislative service.
Alhaji Musa Yarima therefore urged the participants to take full advantage of the sessions, noting that, the knowledge and skills acquired should reflect in improved coordination, communication, and productivity across all departments and units of the Assembly.
In his remarks, the Director, administration and Supplies, Sama’ila Gwamna, described the initiative as a significant step toward fortifying the administrative backbone of the house.
He explained that, the efficiency of any legislative body, largely depends on the quality of administrative support driving its activities, stressing that precision, professionalism, and coordination are indispensable to the legislative process.
According to him, the Department of Administration and Supplies, being the central hub of personnel management and institutional services, recognizes that no system can function optimally without a competent and well-trained workforce.
Sama’ila Gwamna reveaved that, the workshop was carefully designed to address the operational realities of the legislative service, including documentation and record management, interdepartmental coordination, official communication, and ethical conduct.
The Director further commended the visionary leadership of the Clerk of the House and the supportive disposition of Members of the 10th Assembly, noting that, recent reforms in the legislature have brought remarkable transformation that requires continuous staff development to sustain progress.
In his welcome address, the State assembly staff officer, Adamu Yusuf, said the training sessions will blend theoretical insights with hands-on exercises, case studies and interactive discussions to ensure practical learning outcomes.
Participants of the training workshop hoped that, the workshop will equip them with practical knowledge and skills that will enhance productivity and strengthen institutional capacity within the State House of Assembly.
