Bauchi State Government has commenced moves to upgrade and reactivate the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and Bauchi State Television (BATV) with the arrival of new broadcast equipment.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Usman Usman Shehu, inspected the equipment as part of ongoing efforts to restore the state owned media organisations to full operational capacity, including the BRC One AM service.
Speaking during the inspection, Alhaji Usman Shehu described the arrival of the equipment as a major milestone in the state government’s efforts to reposition BRC and BATV in line with modern broadcasting standards.
He commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the initiative and commitment to transforming the state owned media organisations, noting that, the investment would significantly improve their performance and fortunes.
According to him, the intervention would strengthen the stations’ capacity in news gathering, production, transmission and programme delivery, enabling them to provide more effective and efficient services to the people of Bauchi State.
The Commissioner explained that a vibrant and technologically equipped state media was essential for effective communication between government and citizens, particularly in disseminating policies, programmes and development initiatives.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BRC and BATV, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Bello, described the arrival of the long awaited equipment as a welcome development and a significant step towards realising the transformation of the two stations.
He said the project would ultimately benefit the people of Bauchi State through improved and more reliable broadcasting services.
Alhaji Inuwa Bello assured the project implementation team of the full cooperation of the management and staff of BRC and BATV, saying that effective collaboration would facilitate the timely and successful completion of the project.
In his remarks, the Lead Engineer of Technosystem, the company handling the project, Engineer Peter Adewumi, assured the Commissioner and members of the taskforce of the firm’s commitment to executing the project professionally and within the stipulated timeframe.
He said the company would ensure proper installation of the equipment and compliance with all necessary technical requirements to achieve the objectives of the upgrade and reactivation programme.
The Commissioner was accompanied during the inspection visit by the Chairman, Board of Directors of BRC and BATV, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Bello, and other members of the State Taskforce on the Reactivation of the two media organisations.
