Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has raised concerns over what it described as the lackadaisical attitude of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies, toward the career progression of their workers.
The Commission expressed this concern during its 44th plenary session held at its Conference Hall, Bauchi.
Presiding over the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Muhammad, lamented the failure of some MDAs to promptly process cases related to promotions, conversions and other career-related matters of their staff.
He noted that, while the Commission is working tirelessly to ensure that no promotion or conversion case is delayed unnecessarily, most of the setbacks originate from the MDAs’ failure to submit required documents and corrections on time.
Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad warned that the Commission would no longer tolerate such negligence, especially when corrections are communicated and ignored.
He disclosed that even during recent task force engagements, some affected MDAs failed to effect the required corrections within the stipulated time.
The Chairman therefore urged all MDAs to prioritize the career progression of their workers, describing it as a key motivator for civil servants and essential for optimal service delivery.
He further clarified that the present administration has not placed any restrictions on promotions and should not be blamed for delays caused by MDAs.
Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad charged all MDAs to ensure timely preparation and submission of promotion, conversion, and other personnel-related recommendations to facilitate smooth processing.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to clearing all pending cases within the shortest possible time.
It will be recalled that only a few months ago, the Commission cleared over 3,767 backlog cases of promotions, conversions and related requests as part of its efforts to ensure timely disposal of matters before it.
