Bauchi State Governor reaffirms commitment to workers’ capacity development
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening workers’ capacity and improving service delivery.
The governor gave the assurance while declaring open, a three-day training programme for young workers organised by the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees in Bauchi.
Represented by the Chairman, Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Wabi, Governor Bala urged the participants to pay close attention and make maximum use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training.
He said continuous capacity development would enhance professionalism and improve effective service delivery, stressing that well trained personnel were critical to strengthening local government administration.
Also speaking, the President-General of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara, represented by the Deputy President-General, Comrade Rufus Babalola Adeniyi, said the training would prepare young workers to effectively handle future leadership responsibilities and emerging challenges in local government administration.
He urged the participants to remain committed and dedicated to their duties, noting that, professionalism, continuous learning and preparedness were essential for effective performance.
Earlier in his welcome address, the NULGE President, Bauchi State Chapter, Comrade Muhammad Yunusa, said the training was designed to equip young workers with the leadership, teamwork and administrative skills required to prepare them for future positions within the local government service.
Comrade Yunusa Muhammad highlighted some achievements recorded under the present administration, noting that local government workers were now up to date with their promotions, while the scheme of service had been implemented to provide career progression from Grade Level 01 to Grade Level 17.
In his remarks, the National Young Workers’ Leader, Comrade Safiyanu Abdullahi Dewu, called for greater attention to the welfare, development and empowerment of young workers.
He urged the participants to take advantage of the training to acquire relevant skills, knowledge and experience needed to contribute meaningfully to effective local government administration.
Safiyanu Dewu disclosed that, the training attracted participants from the 774 local government areas across the country, focused on leadership, teamwork, administrative skills and other areas aimed at preparing young workers for future leadership responsibilities.
