Over 2,000 people defect to APM in Gamawa Ahead of 2027 Elections.
By Abubakar Shehu Gamawa:
More than 2,000 people have reportedly defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Gadiya, Raga and Taranka communities of Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors were received by Alhaji Ahmed Madaki Gololo, who leads the APM Stakeholders Committee in Gamawa Local Government Area, during a grassroots mobilisation and sensitisation tour of the communities.
Speaking during the tour, Madaki Gololo said the exercise was organised to introduce the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections and mobilise support for their respective legislative and executive positions.
He identified Dr. Aminu Hassan Gamawa, Umar Yakubu Udubo and Bello S. Jadori as the party’s candidates for the respective legislative positions in the 2027 elections.
Madaki Gololo also urged residents to support Dr. Yakubu Adamu, PhD, as the party’s governorship candidate, and Rt. Hon. Auwal Mohammed Jatau, its candidate for Bauchi North Senatorial District.
Welcoming the new members, Madaki Gololo described their decision to join the APM as a positive development, expressing confidence in the party’s leadership under Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State.
He assured the defectors of equal treatment and full participation in the party’s activities, urging them to work collectively with existing members to strengthen the party’s structures across the local government area.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mu’azu Gadiya and Bello Yusuf Taranka attributed their decision to leave the APC to what they described as a lack of adequate attention and unequal treatment within their former party.
They appealed to the APM leadership to recognise their contributions and provide them with opportunities to participate actively in the party’s affairs and contribute to its efforts to form the next government in Bauchi State in 2027.
