By Ibrahim Musa Kirfi.

The newly emerged Leader of the Kirfi Local Government Legislative Council in Bauchi State, Abubakar Muhammad Manzo, has called on political leaders, councillors, traditional rulers and residents to maintain peace and unity following his assumption of office.

Abubakar Muhammad made the appeal in a statement posted on his Facebook page, following the suspension of his predecessor, Musa Ali, by members of the legislative council.

He expressed gratitude to his fellow councillors for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to discharge his responsibilities with transparency, fairness and inclusiveness.

The new council leader emphasised that his emergence should not be seen as a personal victory but as an opportunity to uphold the integrity, independence and dignity of the legislative council.

He also extended goodwill to his predecessor, describing him as a brother and colleague, while urging all parties to embrace mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.

Abubakar Muhammad appealed to the Chairman of Kirfi Local Government, traditional rulers, leaders of the All Progressives Movement (APM) and other stakeholders to avoid actions capable of generating unnecessary tension in the area.

He stressed that peace, progress and development should remain the collective responsibility of all stakeholders, irrespective of their political differences.

The council leader further pledged to maintain a cordial working relationship with the executive arm of the local government to facilitate development projects and protect the interests of residents across Kirfi’s 13 wards.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the legislative responsibilities of the council and called on residents and political stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at strengthening unity and advancing development in the area.
