Bauchi Mobile Court orders arrest of two defendants over environmental sanitation offences.
By Maisaje Wakili:
The Bauchi State Environmental Sanitation Mobile Court has ordered the arrest of two defendants, Malam Hussaini Usman of Dutsen Tanshi and Hajiya Amina of New GRA, both in Bauchi Local Government Area, for failing to appear in court to answer charges brought against them under the state’s environmental sanitation law.
The presiding officer, Barrister Laraba Hamisu, issued the order at the Mobile Court sitting at the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), following consideration of the reasons presented by the applicant.
The court subsequently ordered that the two defendants be remanded at the Bauchi Correctional Centre.
In a related development, the court directed that hearing notices be served on the managers of Sulgad Hotel, Jarmari Guest Inn and LP Gas along Dass Road, as well as twelve other individuals, for their failure to appear in court as required.
The actions form part of the state’s efforts to enforce compliance with environmental sanitation regulations and ensure that persons accused of violating the law respond to the allegations against them.
