Rotary International pledges to continue to support rural communities, especially those in the rural crannies of Bauchi State, so that they can have improved livelihoods. The District Governor of Rotary Club of 9127, Engineer Sikiru Adetona Awoniwoko, made the pledge while on an official visit to the state.
Engineer Sikiri who led members of the club during a visit to commission some projects executed by the Bauchi Central, also chaired the club assembly, where issues of the club’s development and membership drive came into critical review.
During the one-day visit to Bauchi, the Rotary District Governor inspected and commissioned Borehole provided by the Club at Wurogobbo and Dungulbi communities of Bauchi Local Government area.
Speaking during the commissioning, the District Governor charged the benefiting communities to make good use of them and guard them against vandals.
Also speaking, the President of Rotary Club, Bauchi Central, Miss Comfort Attah, explained that the club has so far provided a lot of intervention in various communities. She said twelve Boreholes have been provided in collaboration with Julie Agada Foundation in various communities, and the club has also participated in the Maternal and Child Health Week, where 100 Pregnant women were supported with delivery kits; another 100 Breastfeeding mothers have been supported recently during World Breastfeeding Week.
She said efforts are in place to mitigate the effects of climate change by taking a tree-planting campaign to various schools.
In their separate remarks during the borehole commissioning, Ward Head of Wurogabbo, Alahji Muhammad Saidu, and the representative of Ward Head of Dungulbi, Malam Umar Isa, both commended Rotary Club of Bauchi Central for the intervention and assured of their readiness to protect the facilities provided.
The visiting District Governor and his entourage have already left Bauchi for Abuja with an expression of satisfaction with the performance of Bauchi Central Club.
