Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State have endorsed candidates of the Allied Peoples Movement APM for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for August 17.
The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by party leaders and representatives from all 20 wards of the local government area.
The gathering unanimously expressed support for the incumbent Local Government Chairman, Yusuf Babayo Zaki, his deputy, and the 20 councillorship candidates contesting under the APM platform.
Addressing the meeting, the Bauchi State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Falalu Atta, said the incumbent chairman and councillors had demonstrated commendable performance during their tenure and deserved another mandate.
He explained that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had approved the return of council chairmen and councillors with no records of misconduct, noting that the Katagum council leadership met the required standard.
Alhaji Atta further disclosed that the PDP and APM had formed a political alliance ahead of the local government elections, expressing confidence that the collaboration would ensure victory for APM candidates across Bauchi State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Katagum Local Government, Yusuf Babayo Zaki, appreciated the PDP leadership and stakeholders for their continued confidence in his administration.
He appealed to party members and residents to grant him and the councillorship candidates another mandate to sustain ongoing development projects and improve service delivery across the local government area.
The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to promoting development under the APM platform and thanked Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for supporting his bid for a second term.
Also speaking at the meeting, the APM House of Assembly candidates for Chinade/Madara and Azare/Madangala constituencies, Dr Nasir Ahmad Ala and Chiroma Shabiri, pledged to mobilise support for the success of APM candidates in the August 17 local government elections and future electoral contests.
