Nigeria Liguified Nigeria Gas, NLNG, has presented a laboratory complex worth 500,000 US Dollars to ATBU Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
The Managing Director and CEO of the company Dr. Philip Mshelbila at the commissioning of the complex, said the hospital support initiative is one of several programmes of NLNG aimed to sustain and ensure that lives are saved in the country.
The MD and CEO represented Dr. Sofia Horsfall, Head of external relations and sustainable development, revealed that the programme launched in July 2021, covered 12 Federal University Teaching hospitals across Nigeria including the FTC.
In his remarks, the CMD of ATBU, Teaching hospital Bauchi, Peofessor Yusuf Bara Jibrin said the Laboratory will serve as a pivotal platform for their Fri-mandate of clinical service, research and teaching which will significantly enhance patient Care by ensuring faster turnaround of laboratory results, increase accuracy in diagnostic and greater capacity for high- thoughout sample processing.

According to him, currently Bauchi state is one of the highest burdens of Lassa fever, cholera and diphtheria, saying with a dedicated Community Medicine Complex, the department can expand its capacity to conduct thorough field investigations, collect a wider range of environmental and clinical samples and prepare them for analysis by the highly specialized equipment the NLNG has provided which will no doubt boost the utility of the new laboratory for community-level health challenges and reduce the burden.
The CMD thanked the NLNG Board, Management and staff for their unwavering commitment to improving the quality of lives of Nigerians.
In a vote of thanks, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, expressed gratitude to NLNG for chosen ATBU for the special projects and called for proper utilization of the provided equipment.
In his goodwill message, the CMD FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE GOMBE Hospital Dr. Yusuf Abdullahi commended the leadership style of the NLNG for the great achievement, saying such projects are in tandem with the Renew Hope Agenda of the presidency.
