The Giade Emirate Council has conferred the prestigious traditional title of Bauran Giade on the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr Abubakar Y. Suleiman.
The title was conferred during a courtesy visit by the Speaker and members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly to the Emir’s Palace following the recent upgrade of the Giade Emirate and the establishment of additional district and community heads within the Emirate.
Speaking during the visit, the Emir of Giade, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Abdulƙadir, described the Speaker as a worthy son of the emirate who has consistently promoted unity, peace and development in Bauchi State.
The Emir said the conferment of the title was in recognition of Dr Suleiman’s dedication to public service, inclusive leadership and his ability to foster harmony among members of the State Assembly.
He also appealed to the lawmakers to consider increasing the monthly allocation to traditional institutions to enhance their effective administration.
The monarch assured the 10th Bauchi State House of Assembly of the emirate’s continued support towards the growth and development of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, the Majority Leader of the House, Saleh Hodi Jibir, expressed appreciation to the Emirate Council for the honour bestowed on the Speaker, describing it as a recognition of the entire Bauchi State Legislature.
He assured the Emir that the new Bauran Giade would continue to provide exemplary leadership and contribute meaningfully to the development of the Giade Emirate and Bauchi State.
Earlier, the Chairman of Giade Local Government Area, Usman Randy, represented by the member representing Giade Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Adamu Salihu, said the delegation was at the Emir’s Palace to congratulate the Emir on the recent upgrade of the emirate and the installation of newly appointed district and community heads.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a horse to the Speaker, the newly installed Bauran Giade, as a symbol of honour and respect.
