Bauchi State Citizens have been called upon to support the ongoing continuous Voter Registration exercise in order to keep the state relevant in national politics.
This was part of resolutions of a one day interactive meeting for key stakeholders organized by the State Ministry of Information and Communication.
The Meeting held at the Abubakar Umar Secretariat, Conference Hall of the ministry drew participants including INEC Official, Leaders of various Political Parties in the State, Media Executives and other representatives of interest groups.
Declaring the Meeting open, the state Commissioner of Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, charged the stakeholders to collectively chart a road-map that will mobilise all eligible citizens of the state to come out em-mass and register to show up during elections for voting.
He noted that national Voter Registrstion is a vital tool in shaping the fate of the country describing as worrisome findings showing that, Bauchi State is lagging behind in the ongoing exercise.
The Commissioner, represented by the permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Gambaki, charged leaders of the political parties to support the government in community mobilization and awareness creation on the importance of the exercise.
Also speaking, , representative of INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Halita Kaje, who is the Head of Legal affairs of Bauchi Office, said Continuous Voter Registration is a national exercise that is expected to be run up till 30th August, 2026.
She therefore reminded all eligible persons of eighteen years and above that have not been registered before to use the present opportunity to key into the exercise.
She lamented that, presently there are about thirty-five thousand permanent Voters card that have not been collected in the state asking the owners to come forward and collect that vital national tool.
On the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, Mrs Halita said, the Commission has captured over forty one new voters since the commencement of the exercise in August, last year.
She assured of INEC readiness to work round the clock to ensure that all those eligible voters showing up for registration are attended to, before the last day.
Also Speaking, , the state Chairman of Interparty Advosory Council IPAC, Hon. Auwal Isa, commended the ministry of Information for organizing the sensitization meeting and appeal to the state government to devolve strategies to make all the eligible persons to come out and register.
At the end of the meeting it was resolved that the state government should embark of an aggressive awareness creation particularly at the grassroots to ginger people to respond to the exercise.
The Meeting also recommended, collaboration with the Media, Traditional and religious Leaders as well as Community based organizations in order to make the exercise a huge success in the state.
