Bauchi State House of Assembly appeals to Government to complete electricity project in Udubo

By Rabiu Ishaq Muhammad:

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has called on the State Government to prioritize the completion of an electricity extension project from Raga to Danchuwa, Samo, Aido, Gayawa and Malam Bakari communities in Udubo Constituency.

The call followed a motion sponsored by the Member representing Udubo Constituency, Ahmed Muhammed Lele during plenary.

Presenting the motion, Ahmed Lele explained that the electricity extension project was initiated by the administration of former Governor Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu but had yet to be completed, leaving thousands of residents without access to electricity.

He noted that the affected communities have commercial activities, healthcare facilities, schools and markets that depend on reliable electricity to operate effectively.

The lawmaker observed that the absence of electricity had continued to limit the growth of small scale businesses, increase the cost of healthcare service delivery, affect students’ learning conditions and discourage private investment in the communities.

Ahmed Lele stressed that completing the project would provide residents with improved access to electricity, support local businesses and promote socio-economic development across Udubo Constituency.

The lawmaker urged the State Government to intervene as a matter of priority to ensure the completion, connection and energisation of the electricity project to the benefiting communities.

He also called for adequate budgetary provision and directed attention to the need for the Ministry of Power and other relevant agencies to expedite outstanding works to facilitate the completion of the project.

Supporting the motion, member Representing Kirfi Constituency Barrister Habibu Umar highlighted the need to provide reliable electricity to the benefiting communities to enhance economic activities and improve residents’ living conditions.

He said the proposed intervention is expected to improve access to electricity, strengthen commercial activities and enhance the quality of life of residents in Raga, Danchuwa, Samo, Aido, Gayawa and Malam Bakari communities.
