Bauchi Govt places Human Capital Development top on its Governance Agenda

Bauchi State Council on Human Capital Development programme says the state government has placed human capital development at the heart of its governance agenda as no economy can grow beyond the capacity, health, and productivity of its people.
The Deputy Governor of the state who is the Chairman of the Council, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau disclosed this at the opening of a stakeholder sensitization workshop on Human Capital Development Phase II held at Zaranda Hotel Bauchi.
He noted that, Human resource is the basic requirement for the development of any nation, hence the need for the state government to take human capital development with all the seriousness it deserves by investing heavily in sectors that are critical to human development such as education, health, and labour participation.
According to him, in line with the governance structure of the Human Capital Development 2.0, Bauchi State has already constituted and inaugurated its Human Capital Development Council and the Technical Working Group.
Auwal Jatau said the current effort of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the office of the Vice President in collaboration with some international development agencies to support sub nationals to develop the human capital for the overall development of the country is highly commendable.
On his part, the Focal Person of the Programme and Chief Economic Adviser to the State Governor, Yahuza Adamu appreciated partners particularly ECOWAS for including Bauchi among the 12 states benefiting from its grant and promised effective implementation for significant investments in education, healthcare, and labour force participation.
The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, Jibrin Mohammed Yusuf said the state government is working on coming up with Human Capital Development document in order to achieve the desired objectives.
