Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the reappointment of Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed for a second term as Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare.
The reappointment followed a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, attended by the Governor, the Commissioner for Higher Education, the College Governing Council Chairman and members, the Provost, leaders of academic and non-academic staff unions, the Student Union President, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Education.
During the meeting, all parties presented their positions and grievances, after which Governor Bala called for unity, understanding, and collective responsibility to ensure the institution’s stability and development.
Lawmakers had argued that their position was in the interest of accountability and institutional harmony,adding that Governor Bala Mohammed had intervened, urging stakeholders to prioritize the progress of the College over personal differences.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening tertiary education and promoting good governance in the education sector.
Speaking to newsmen after her reappointment, Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed expressed gratitude to Allah and appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for the renewed confidence in her leadership.
She also thanked the Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Dr. Lydia Tsammani; the Speaker and Members of the State Assembly; Commissioners; Political Advisers; Royal Fathers; and Council Members for their contributions toward her reappointment.
Professor Asabe noted that the recent challenges had strengthened her resolve to achieve the College’s mission, assuring that her administration would remain focused on academic excellence, infrastructural growth, and institutional peace.
