Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has urged elected Local Government Chairmen to ensure prudent management of public resources and deliver quality, impactful leadership to improve grassroots development.
The Governor who gave the charge during a meeting with the chairmen at the State Government House, emphasized accountability, transparency and efficient utilisation of available resources to achieve meaningful development.
Governor Bala Mohammed directed them to hold periodic security meetings with Divisional Police Officers and other security agencies to address emerging threats and strengthen safety across their respective areas.
He also called for proper documentation of financial transactions and administrative decisions, warning that their activities would attract public scrutiny, particularly given the state’s opposition political status.
Governor Bala Mohammed urged the chairmen to maintain regular consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence, inclusion and effective grassroots administration.
The Governor stressed the importance of their physical presence in their respective local governments, noting that accessibility would enhance responsiveness, coordination and timely intervention in security matters.
He further encouraged regular council meetings with councillors and the adoption of peer-review mechanisms among local governments to share experiences and replicate successful development initiatives.
