Ragwam District Head urges Schools to prioritize vocational training for Youth self reliance

The District Head of Ragwam, Alhaji Bashar Kabir Umar, has charged educational administrators and teachers to intensify the teaching of practical and vocational skills to enable students to achieve self-reliance and build sustainable livelihoods post-graduation.

Alhaji Bashar Umar made the call during the 24th Speech and Prize-Giving Day Ceremony hosted by the Inuwa Dahiru Memorial School in Azare.

Addressing guests, parents, and educators, the traditional ruler underscored the vital role of moral instruction and parental responsibility, noting that, strong collaboration between home and school environments remains essential for positive youth development.

Commending the practical showcase, the District Head advised the school management to commercialize student made products in local markets.

He noted that generating revenue through these items would make the school’s vocational programs financially self-sustaining while in providing students with real-world entrepreneurial experience.

As part of the ceremony, students demonstrated practical skills acquired through the school’s vocational curriculum, showcasing locally manufactured cosmetics and petroleum jelly.
