The Bununu Emirate Council and key stakeholders have held their first official meeting since the creation of the emirate, emphasizing unity, economic development, and collective responsibility as pillars for progress.
In his opening remarks, the Sarkin Kudun Bununu, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Bununu, described the gathering as historic, noting that it marked a significant milestone in the journey of the newly established emirate.
He said the creation of the Bununu Emirate symbolizes renewed unity and a fresh drive toward development.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad (Kauran Bauchi), for establishing the emirate, stating that the move would bring governance closer to the people and accelerate grassroots development.
The Chairman of the meeting, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Gumba (Kuyambanan Bauchi), who was represented by the Baraden Bula, Alhaji Kai’la Shu’aibu, Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, urged the people of Bununu to take ownership of the emirate’s growth.
He stressed that unity remains the foundation for improving security, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting economic prosperity.
According to him, the emirate serves as a rallying point for the entire community and should be leveraged to foster sustainable development.
In a presentation titled “How to Develop the Economy of Our Emirate Through Agriculture,” the Bauchi State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Iliyasu Aliyu Gital, represented by the Chiroman Bununu, highlighted agriculture as the backbone of the emirate’s economic future.
He noted that Bununu is blessed with fertile land and diverse crop potential, making agriculture a viable pathway to wealth creation and food security.
He added that the Bauchi State Government, under the leadership of Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, is prioritizing the agricultural sector by providing farm inputs and constructing rural roads to ease transportation challenges.
He expressed confidence that with collective commitment, the emirate’s economy would witness significant growth.
In his goodwill message, the Bauchi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pharm.
Samaila Adamu Burga (Wazirin Bununu), called on parents to prioritize education by enrolling their children in school.
He described education as the foundation of societal development and urged participants to implement the resolutions reached at the meeting for the overall progress of the emirate.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by stakeholders to work together in unity to ensure peace, security, and sustainable development in the Bununu Emirate.
