Shira LG residents urged to use Mosquito Nets to prevent malaria.

Communities in Shira Local Government Area have been advised to make proper use of the insecticide-treated mosquito nets being distributed across the state to protect themselves against malaria.

The Director of Primary Health Care in Shira Local Government Area, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, made the call during an interactive session with newsmen.

He said sleeping under treated mosquito nets remained one of the important measures for preventing malaria, urging residents to use the nets consistently and appropriately.

Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf commended the Bauchi State Government for prioritising the health sector and supporting efforts to prevent malaria in the state.

He confirmed that the state government had provided sufficient mosquito nets for distribution to members of the public following the distribution of cards to identified beneficiaries in recent days.

On the distribution process, the Director explained that each cardholder should visit the designated distribution point on the date indicated on their card to collect the mosquito net.

He urged beneficiaries to present their cards for verification before collecting the nets and advised residents to cooperate with health officials throughout the exercise.

Alhaji Kabiru also called on the public to avoid overcrowding and any form of disturbance at distribution centres to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly.

He further stressed that community cooperation and proper use of the mosquito nets would help reduce malaria infections and improve the health of residents across Shira Local Government Area.
