Residents of Ari District in the Ari Emirate Council of Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, have expressed joy following the state government’s approval of land for the construction of a new Eid prayer ground.
The development brings an end to years of waiting by the community for a designated space to observe the annual Eid congregational prayers.
The approval was confirmed during an inspection visit by the Committee on Monitoring of Farmland Distribution in De-reserved Forests. The committee was in the area to assess land-use issues and also inspected the newly allocated site located in old Ari town.
Speaking during the visit, the committee’s chairman, Comrade Sale Umar Misau, expressed satisfaction with the location of the new prayer ground. He stated that, God willing, the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr prayers would be observed at the newly approved site.
During the tour, the committee also observed cases of forest encroachment within the Tamba Forest Reserve. In addition, the delegation inspected the premises of the School of Administration and Social Development in Ningi as part of its broader oversight responsibilities.
Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Hon. Nasiru Zakarai, expressed immense happiness over the development, noting that the community had long awaited the approval.
He said, their joy is beyond measure because we have been seeking the approval for a very long time.
He assured the committee that the local government would immediately begin efforts to standardize and prepare the field, promising that necessary measures would be taken to properly develop and maintain the prayer ground.
Also speaking, the District Head of Tiffi, Muhammad Mahmud, commended the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed for responding to the needs of the people.
He added that the people of the Ari Emirate would remain grateful to the governor for approving the much-needed prayer ground.
