Over 300 Women benefit from skills acquisition programme in Toro.

More than 300 women have benefited from a skills acquisition programme organised by the Women’s Skills Acquisition Association in Toro, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Chairman of the association, Alhaji Shehu A. Muhammad, disclosed this while speaking on the initiative, saying the programme was established by members of the 1998 class of Special School Toro, who were classmates of Bauchi State governorship aspirant, Dr. Yakubu Adamu.

According to him, the former classmates came together to establish the programme as part of efforts to support their colleagues and empower women with practical skills that would enable them to become selfreliant.

The Secretary of the 1998 Association, Malam Hassan Hassan Muhammad, said members of the association would continue to support Dr. Yakubu Adamu and work towards the success of his 2027 governorship ambition.

One of the trainers, Malam Nuhu Muhammad Nene, who specialises in bed sheet making, commended the participants for their commitment, hard work and determination throughout the training.

Some beneficiaries, including Hauwa Faruk, Sa’adatu Abubakar and Hauwa Ibrahim Shehu, expressed appreciation for the opportunity, saying the skills acquired would enable them to become economically self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

The beneficiaries also pledged to share the knowledge they acquired with other women who did not have the opportunity to participate in the programme.

The training covers various vocational skills, including tailoring, bed sheet making, computer training, cooking, cosmetics production and other income-generating skills.

The organisers said the beneficiaries would also be supported with start-up capital upon completion of their training, while plans were underway to extend the programme to other areas.
