Nigerian Army Announces Live-Fire Exercise Along Bauchi-Jos Road

The Nigerian Army Armour School, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi, has announced plans to conduct a live-fire power demonstration exercise along the Bauchi-Jos Road on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The exercise, scheduled to take place between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., is expected to involve the movement of troops and military equipment, as well as the firing of live ammunition and projectiles.

In a statement signed by Major Adekunle Adeyemi, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, the Army warned that the exercise could pose risks to lives and property within the designated training area.

The Army therefore urged members of the public not to panic upon seeing large movements of troops and military equipment or hearing gunshots and explosions around the Bauchi-Jos Road during the exercise.

It specifically advised farmers and cattle rearers operating in the affected area to keep away from the designated Field Training Exercise Area around Zaranda Hill and Geji Village throughout the period of the exercise.

The Army assured residents that adequate safety and security measures have been put in place to protect lives and property during the exercise.

It also appealed to media organisations to give the exercise wide publicity, including through local languages, to ensure that residents in communities around the affected area are adequately informed and avoid the designated training zone.
