The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists Nawoj has challenged Women Journalists to key into Enterprenureship and social investment programmes with a view to achieving socio economic development.
The state Chairperson of the Nawoj , Hajiya. Rashida Yusuf gave the challenge at the opening of a training programme for Women Journalists on Enterprenureship and self reliance for Women Journalists held in Jo’s Plateau state.
The chairperson described the media as a formidable team with strategic focus towards promoting and protecting the wellbeing of women and Girls in the area of Enterprenureship development.
Hajiya Rashida Yusuf who emphasised the importance of self reliance , expressed appreciation to the state government which organised the training, , the office of the State First Lady, and the state ministry of Women Affairs and child development for impacting positively on the lives of women and girls particularly at the grassroots level.
In her presentation, the plateau state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ,
Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo encouraged women Journalists to priotise their coverage on issue a concerning women and girls., to ensure economic development.
The plateau state Nuj chairman who. also challenged them to as gender advocates be proactive in promoting gender equity with a view to changing the narratives, identified challenges faced by women and girls to include lack of access to decent job, disparity in work place and insecurity among others.
She therefore stressed the nee to invest in women development through increased awareness on the need to look beyond the surface of interventions.
