Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has sworn in the newly elected Chairmen of the 20 Local Government Councils in the state.
The Governor also swore in Muhammad Tukur Adamu as Commissioner for Water Resources and six Special Advisers to serve in various sectors of the administration.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed charged the newly elected council chairmen to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by providing effective, transparent and accountable leadership at the grassroots.
He urged them to prioritise the welfare and development of their respective local government areas, promote peace and unity, and work closely with their communities to address their needs and aspirations.
Governor Bala commended the people of Bauchi State for their peaceful and orderly participation in the recently concluded local government elections, noting that, the electorates have once again demonstrated their commitment to democracy by freely exercising their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
The Governor described the elections as successful, peaceful and credible, and commended the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), security agencies, political parties, election officials, observers, the media and other stakeholders for their contributions to the smooth conduct of the exercise.
Governor Bala Mohammed assured the newly elected council chairmen of his administration’s continued support and cooperation to enable them discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the law and in the overall interest of the people.
Responding on behalf of the newly elected chairmen, the Chairman of Ningi Local Government, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, pledged their commitment to supporting the success of the present administration in the state, including working towards its victory in the forthcoming general elections.
The newly sworn-in Special Advisers are Garba Hassan Bajama, Small and Medium Enterprises; Yakubu Lawi Sumi, Housing and Environment; Usman Sale, Livestock and L-PRES Project; Abdulkadir Dewu, Rural Development and Special Duties; Nasiru Zakari, Education; and Aminu Birnini, Health and Social Welfare.
