Governor Bala Mohammed applauds NUBASS for supporting youth development

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has commended the executives of the National Union of Bauchi State Students NUBASS, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Chapter, for complementing government’s efforts toward youth development through initiatives that promote education, empowerment and students’ welfare.
The Governor made the commendation during a programme organized by 2025/2026 NUBASS executives, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Chapter, where over 100 Bauchi State citizens were provided with food items while outstanding students with the highest cumulative grade point average CGPA across the six schools of the polytechnic were recognized and rewarded.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Bashir Yau, Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration remained committed to implementing programmes and projects aimed at improving the wellbeing, education and future prospects of young people in Bauchi State.
He acknowledged NUBASS effort for creating opportunities that would inspire students to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
The initiative, organised under the theme “Celebrating Excellence, Empowering Skills, Inspiring the Future,” was aimed at promoting academic excellence, supporting vulnerable members of the community and encouraging students to develop skills that would contribute to their future success.
Speaking on behalf of the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Alhaji Sani Usman, the Bursar of the institution, Alhaji Sama’una Nuhu, described the initiative as timely, which demonstrated concern for students and the wider Bauchi State community.
In his goodwill message, the Dean Student Affairs of the Polytechnic, Dr Muhammad Uwais, recognized the foresight of the NUBASS executives in identifying and awarding Bauchi State indigenes who attained the highest CGPA across the Polytechnic’s six schools.
Also speaking, the NUBASS Patron and Head of the Department of Forestry, Malam Ibrahim Ahmad Aliyu, highlighted the achievements of the 2025/2026 NUBASS executives and urged them to sustain their commitment to service, noting their positive impact on students’ welfare and academic development.
The NUBASS President, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Chapter, Comrade Abdurrazak Musa Hamza, said his administration had recorded several achievements, including the establishment of a temporary NUBASS office, students’ welfare and scholarship support, distribution of academic notebooks, renovation of the NUBASS garden and distribution of relief packages to students among others.
Comrade Abdulrazak Musa Hamza also acknowledged Governor Bala Mohammed’s support for students’ development and appreciated the Rector and management of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for their commitment to institutional development.
In his vote of thanks, the NUBASS National President, Comrade Sulaiman Muhammad Abdulwahab, congratulated the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Chapter for the successful programme and urged the beneficiaries to use the relief packages judiciously.
