The Chigari Foundation has mobilised key stakeholders in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State ahead of the forthcoming integrated Measles-Rubella and Polio vaccination exercise, scheduled to commence on October 18.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement and training session held at the Bogoro Local Government Secretariat, the Foundation’s representative, Mr. Emmanuel Bulus, said the initiative is aimed at ensuring a hitch-free and successful vaccination campaign across the area.
Mr. Bulus explained that the Foundation will collaborate closely with traditional rulers, health workers, religious leaders, and development partners to achieve full coverage during the exercise.
He urged religious and community leaders to intensify public enlightenment efforts and mobilise parents to bring their children for vaccination, stressing the importance of protecting every child against preventable diseases.
Also speaking, the Health Educator of Bogoro LGA, Mr. Dogara Ayuba, revealed that the exercise will run for 10 days, followed by a mop-up operation to reach missed children.
According to him, children aged nine months to 14 years will receive the Measles-Rubella vaccine, while children from birth to five years will be given the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).
Mr. Ayuba appealed to parents and caregivers to take advantage of the free and safe vaccination exercise to protect their children from life-threatening diseases.
He reiterated the commitment of the Local Government Health Department to ensuring a successful campaign, adding that mass mobilisation activities are already ongoing at the grassroots level through town announcers, community mobilisers, and Ward Development Committee (WDC) members.
