Bauchi State Urban Water and Sewerage Corporation has said that, Communities in Bauchi metropolis will experience partial water disruptions for five weeks starting Monday, twenty-nine September to second week of November 2025.
The move is part of state government plans to rehabilitate the 2.5 million litre capacity package water facility at Gubi Treatment Plant, Bauchi.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Corporation’s Public Relations and Communication Officer, Comrade Umar Adamu Jibrin, saying the temporary shutdown of the plant will involve rehabilitation of the reservoir tank and other critical maintenance aimed at improving long-term quality and quantity of the city’s water supply.
Acoording to the statement, the Acting Managing Director of the BSUWSC, Hajiya Uwani Garba Dagauda, assured residents that the rehabilitation exercise is expected to be completed within the stipulated period.
It said to remedy the situation, temporary measures will be provided by the Board, as water tankers will be supplying water to the affected areas which includes: One Thousand Housing Estate (Gida dubu) ATBU University Staff Quarters (Kari Estate) Rafin Makaranta, and some parts of Magaji Quarters as well as School of Armor, Bauchi.
Hajiya Uwani Garba further appealed for understanding and cooperation of Bauchi residents during the maintenance period, emphasizing that the short-term inconvenience is for a long-term improvement in the state water sectors.
