Bauchi Legislature adopts report of House committee on education for inspection tour of projects across the 20 Local Government Areas

Bauchi State House of Assembly has adopted a report of the House committee on education on the inspection tour of SUBEB awarded projects across the 20 Local Government Councils of the state.
The adoption of the report comes after the Chairman of the committee Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala laid the report for legislative consideration.
The committee in the report, recommended that, all contractors whose projects were found wanting should be summoned and directed to return to site immediately, SUBEB should prioritize provision of desks, toilet facilities, and boreholes in all the new or renovated schools.
Others are, the need for the Bauchi State government through SUBEB and Local Government education authorities to employ watchmen where schools have none, to safeguard infrastructure, and the need for the State Ministry of Education, in collaboration with SUBEB to urgently recruit and post qualified teachers to underserved schools.
The rest include, the need for SUBEB and education Secretaries to institutionalize the engagement of community and religious leaders in all aspects of school projects, planning, monitoring and sustainability initiatives.
In another development, the member representing Zungur/Galambi/Miri constituency Sa’adu Yusuf Ahmed has presented a motion on the need for ward level consideration in employment by the executive arm of government for equitable representation and inclusiveness.
He said the measure will help strengthen government presence in rural areas, reduce unemployment at the grassroot and enhance loyalty, efficiency and accountability among staff.
According to him, the idea will not only address growing complaints of marginalization in employment but also serve as a tool for rural development and balanced public service delivery.
Sa’idu Yusuf further appealed to the house members to mandate the appropriate committee of the house to liase with state civil service commission and other relevant agencies to ensure implementation and monitor compliance.
