Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Alumni Directorate honours Bauchi Speaker as patron
The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Y. Suleiman has been honoured as a Patron of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Directorate of Alumni Relations.
The recognition as contained in a statement by spokesperson of the Speaker, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, came during a courtesy and familiarization visit by executives of the newly established Directorate to the Speaker at the temporary Assembly complex, Bauchi.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Muhammad Ghani Dass, explained that the Directorate identified Dr. Suleiman as one of ATAP’s distinguished alumni, particularly for his outstanding record during his time in the Interim Joint Matriculation Board programme.
Comrade Muhammad Dass said the Directorate was created to strengthen the bond between the institution and its graduates, promote collaboration, and foster initiatives that will contribute to educational development in the state.
He also commended the Polytechnic’s Rector for his achievements in academics, infrastructural development, and staff welfare.
In his response, Speaker Abubakar Suleiman expressed delight over the visit and commended the Directorate for reviving alumni activities after over four decades of dormancy.
He described ATAP as an integral part of his educational journey, recalling that his academic path began at the Polytechnic before proceeding to the University of Maiduguri.
The Speaker assured the delegation of his continued support, both as an alumnus and as the head of the state legislature.
He pledged that the Assembly would remain open to collaboration with the Directorate, especially on initiatives that promote education in Bauchi State.
Dr. Suleiman expressed gratitude for the honour and promised to live up to the confidence reposed in him.
