Bauchi State Assembly appeals for the construction of 7KM Baraya–Wuntin Dada–Miri Road.

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has called on the State Government to construct an approximately seven-kilometre township road linking Baraya Quarters, Wuntin Dada and Miri communities in Bauchi metropolis.
The call followed a motion sponsored by the member representing Zungur/Galambi Constituency, Yusuf Saidu Ahmad, during plenary.
Moving the motion, Sa’idu Yusuf said the proposed road would commence from Baraya Quarters Main Road and pass through Unguwan Gabas Wuntin Dada, Wuntin Dada Primary School, Kurmin Dorawa Wuntin Dada, Sabon Kauran Lafiyari Wuntin Dada, Hanyar Lafiyari, Anguwan Wakilin Miri and Miri, before terminating at Bakin Kwaltan Miri, opposite Shafa Filling Station.
The lawmaker said the project was not merely about road construction but about improving connectivity among communities and facilitating access to economic opportunities and essential public services.
He noted that the proposed road would connect several populated communities and important facilities, including Wuntin Dada Primary School and Miri Primary Health Centre, thereby improving access to education and healthcare.
Sa’idu Yusuf added that improved road connectivity would reduce transportation difficulties, travelling time and vehicle maintenance costs, while facilitating the movement of agricultural produce, goods and services to markets.
He said the project would also support local businesses, traders, farmers and artisans and contribute to broader economic development within the affected communities.
The lawmaker said the proposed road was in line with the State Government’s emphasis on infrastructure development, urban renewal and improved connectivity, adding that its construction would integrate communities currently affected by inadequate road infrastructure into a functional township road network.
The lawmaker described roads as important infrastructure that facilitate access to economic opportunities, education, healthcare and social development.
The Assembly therefore urged the Executive Arm of Government to consider the construction of the approximately seven-kilometre Baraya Quarters–Wuntin Dada–Miri township road.
It also called on the government to consider including the project in an appropriate infrastructure programme, subject to technical and budgetary considerations.
The House further urged the government to provide adequate drainage and other necessary ancillary works before commencement of the project to ensure the durability and functionality of the road.
