41st Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition ends in Toro LG.

The 41st edition of the annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has ended with a call on the winners to intensify their studies and adequately prepare to represent the local government at the state level.
The competition, held in Madugu Village, Tulai District, featured contestants from all 17 wards of the local government area.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Chairman, Toro Local Government, Pharmacist Ibrahim Dembo, represented by the Councillor representing Tulai Ward, Alhaji Sirajo Babaji Yeltin, congratulated the winners and urged them to intensify their Qur’anic studies ahead of the state competition scheduled to take place in October.
The Chairman commended the Judicial Committee for its efforts in selecting the best contestants and pledged to provide a camping programme to prepare the winners for the state-level competition.
He also appreciated the Organising Committee for successfully conducting the competition despite the short notice, urging members to sustain the commitment in future editions.
In their remarks, the Director of Education and Social Development, Alhaji Munkaila Umar Abdullahi; Chairman of the Organising Committee, Imam Zubairu Yakubu and Local Government Coordinator, Malam Salihu Adamu, commended the host community for its support towards the successful conduct of the competition.
They urged the winners to prepare adequately and strive for outstanding performance at the state level.
The officials also cautioned ward coordinators to ensure proper organisation of the competition at the ward level, stressing that, henceforth, the local government would not accept contestants who did not participate in the ward-level competition.
Presenting the results, the Chairman of the Judicial Committee, Ustaz Abubakar Zubairu, said the competition was conducted fairly, with participants drawn from all 17 wards of the local government.
He appealed to the local government to organise a camping programme for the winners to enhance their preparation, while commending the Organising Committee for providing necessary support and welfare to the contestants.
At the end of the competition, Alaramma Salim Dalhatu of Toro Ward emerged overall winner after scoring 90 points in the 60-Hizb category of Qira’at.
The overall winner, alongside other first place winners in six categories, will represent Toro Local Government at the state level Qur’anic Recitation Competition scheduled for October.
As part of the closing ceremony, Imam Aminu Rabiu Madugu presented ₦10,000 each to contestants who emerged first in the various categories, while those who placed second and third received ₦5,000 each.
