Zakat Committee distributes 24 Cows to needy in Miya

The Zakat Committee in Miya District of Ganjuwa Local Government Area has distributed twenty-four cows to less privileged members of the community as part of efforts to alleviate poverty and support vulnerable households.

The District Head of Miya, Alhaji Yakubu Sulaiman, disclosed this at Siri Zurhu village in Miya, explained that, the cows were collected as Zakat from four villages in the district and subsequently distributed to deserving beneficiaries.

Alhaji Yakubu Sulaiman pledged to intensify efforts to ensure that farmers and other eligible Muslims pay their Zakat as and when due.

He said he would work closely with the Zakat Committee and traditional leaders in his domain to ensure the effective collection and distribution of Zakat to those entitled to receive it.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Zakat, Bauchi State Shari’a Commission, Malam Abubakar Yakubu Gero, said timely payment of Zakat carries numerous blessings in Islam, including the purification and increase of wealth.

Malam Abubakar Gero urged the District Head to intensify awareness among his subjects on the importance of giving Zakat and voluntary charity, saying such contributions could help reduce over-dependence on government and support community development projects.

In separate remarks, the Director of Zakat, Mukhtar Usman, and the Director of Da’awa, Hadi Aliyu, emphasized the religious importance of Zakat, saying its payment purifies wealth and contributes to the prevention of calamities.

They therefore called on wealthy Muslims to fulfill their Zakat obligations in accordance with Islamic teachings and support the less privileged in their communities.
