Bauchi State government has reaffirmed its commitment to regulating the operations of all mining companies within the state.
The aim is to ensure compliance with established guidelines and boost revenue generation of the state.
Speaking during an official visit to various mining sites across several local government areas, the state Commissioner of Natural Resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, reiterated present the administration’s resolve to implement stringent measures to curb illegal mining activities.
He said every mining company most directly collaborate with the Ministry and adhere to protocols, and operate within the framework of Community Development Agreements (CDAs) for the mutual benefit of host communities and the state as a whole.
Bello Maiwada underscored the importance for miners to have their mining licenses, spanning federal, state, and local government levels, to ensure seamless operations.
Bello Maiwada urged community leaders to establish partnerships with local government chairmen to address any challenges arising from mining activities.
Responding, the Shira local government Chairman of Shira, Babangida Ishaq Maliya his Deputy, Sabo Saleh, commended the Commissioner for the visit and pledged the council’s support towards achieving the set objectives.
The local government areas so far visited by the Commissioner during the tour are Darazo, Misau, Shira, and Jama’are.
