Bauchi First Lady urges Nursing Students to prioritise studies and support indigent colleagues.

By Amina Umar:

The Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad, has urged students of the Aliko Dangote School of Nursing, Bauchi, to remain focused on their studies and sustain mutual support initiatives to assist less privileged colleagues.

She made the call when she received the leadership of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the institution in her office.

Hajiya Aisha Bala emphasised the importance of solidarity among students, encouraging them to promote personal and environmental hygiene as part of their professional responsibilities as future healthcare practitioners.

She advised the union leadership to manage its funds prudently and channel resources towards the welfare of members, including establishing a savings scheme, popularly known as adashe, to provide financial support to students after graduation.

The First Lady also urged the students to remain committed to their academic pursuits while contributing to the wellbeing of their communities through health education and public awareness on disease prevention.

She expressed appreciation to the students for the honour accorded her and prayed for their academic and professional success.

Earlier, the President of the Students’ Union Government, Comrade Ibrahim Kabir Muhammad, said the delegation visited the First Lady to express appreciation for the interventions of the Bauchi State Government in the institution and reaffirm their support for the administration.

He listed the fencing of the school to enhance security, construction of a new and improved hostel, and an increase in students’ monthly allowances among the interventions acknowledged by the union.

Ibrahim Kabir Muhammad said the students believed the First Lady’s counsel and support had contributed to the administration’s attention to their welfare.

He explained that the union decided to honour her with an award in recognition of her contributions to the welfare of women, children, youths and persons with special needs.
