Bauchi AGILE trains over 300 teachers on digital literacy

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank–supported project, has trained over 300 teachers on digital literacy and entrepreneurship to enhance teaching and learning in secondary schools across Bauchi State.

The Bauchi State Coordinator of AGILE, Hajiya Ladi Hamma, disclosed this when she led a team to brief the Emirs of Dambam and Giade on the activities and achievements of the programme in their respective emirates.

According to her, the project has also provided cash support of forty thousand naira to 12,133 adolescent girls to encourage school enrolment, retention, and completion.

Hajiya Ladi Hamma explained that other interventions of AGILE in Bauchi State include the renovation of 1,000 public schools across the 20 local government areas, the construction of 42 new schools, and the provision of entrepreneurship skills and financial support to female students to enhance their learning process.

She commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his sustained support for the programme and pledged her commitment to the transparent and effective utilization of resources allocated to AGILE in the state.

The Coordinator further solicited the support of relevant stakeholders, particularly traditional rulers, to ensure the successful implementation of the project and the attainment of its objectives.

In their separate responses, the Emir of Dambam, Alhaji Idris Bappah Musa, represented by the Barade of Dambam, Lamido Musa, and the Emir of Giade, Alhaji Abubakar Sabo, expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by AGILE in their emirates.

They assured the project of their readiness to support its activities towards improving education in Bauchi State, especially in the area of girl-child education.
