The Allied Peoples Movement APM has renominated Yusuf Babayo Zaki, as its candidate for the Chairmanship of Katagum Local Government Area following the party’s consensus primary election.
Musbahu Ibrahim Gwasamai was also confirmed as the party’s Vice Chairmanship candidate.
In addition, the party selected 20 councilorship candidates to represent all the wards in Katagum Local Government Area ahead of the Bauchi State Local Government elections scheduled for 17 August 2026 as announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission BASIEC.
Speaking after the consensus primary, the APM Chairman in Katagum Local Government, Haladu Ganaru Madara, said the emergence of the chairmanship and vice chairmanship candidates followed the unanimous approval of party leaders and three accredited delegates from each ward in the local government.
He expressed confidence that the APM would perform strongly at all levels of the local government elections and appealed to residents of Katagum to support the party in achieving its electoral goals.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairmanship candidate, Yusuf Babayo Zaki, who is seeking a second term in office, thanked party members and leaders for renewing their confidence in him.
He said the unity and commitment of party members would be key to securing victory in the elections, adding that he remained committed to serving the people of Katagum.
Yusuf Babayo Zaki expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for supporting his re-election bid and commended him for executing the developmental projects across the state.
